Creativity & the Illusion(s) Of Effort.

Learning to Learn — through mentorship).

A Short Essay, By Jeremee Michael Tyler.

Becoming better at any discipline, with the intentions of leveling up year after requires a certain level of mental stamina, when doing so. When people call T-pain old & question his relevancy; that’s like saying that Michael Jordan is an old head who is no longer in shape at an elite level, currently — therefore he’s too old to give advice to the young kids. Of course time has passed by, but that doesn’t take away from MJ’s greatness & relevancy, from way back when he was in his physical performance periods.

That alone may not be the case in comparison to Pain, as he still writes/makes great music, at a high level — but either way, it matters.

Remember to keep in mind that those “old head” accusations only go so far & then there’s reality. People are far too used to following their own advice (solely) nowadays, which causes them to hate the wisdom of others, due to ignoring new opportunities to learn, then grow . Therefore, even if it means challenging us on our approach, we should at least take the time to actually try & learn from those who came before us, aka those who have done it longer.

Honestly, my stuff doesn’t currently even sell like that (YET) but I truly cherish the marathon, over momentarily temporary memories. Legacy is the goal for me & although I won’t force this approach on others, I do believe that there’s some clearly lit paths with blueprints for growth, which often fall by the wayside — further leading to missed opportunities. I hope & pray that more people (myself, included) would completely stop, to only pursue money, all for chasing that which keeps possibly keeping us and our careers, stagnant.
